A month of Design and Discovery in the Motor City

Detroit tends to house its own art gallery – on the sides of buildings, inside of unused lots, on the streets, you name it. It’s a gallery that’s always on display, but sometimes it’s hard to know where to look. Design is as much a part of the city as the people that make it up. It’s a city that breathes art into existence.

Design Core Detroit harnesses that creative energy every year during the annual Month of Design in September. They help shine a light on all the creative intersections in the city; from established design firms to budding studios.

Here at Rebuild, we strive every day to embody the organic and artistic vibes of the city. Innovation, resourcefulness, and resilience – those are the qualities that we share with Detroit and how we stay on top of our game. We all stumble, maybe even fall. But the ones that keep getting up are the ones that keep finding greatness. That’s the spirit of Detroit, through and through. A spirit that’s carefully documented through the vibrant murals and gripping displays that blanket the city.

“They help shine a light on all the creative intersections in the city; from established design firms to budding studios.”

September is a month to showcase why Detroit remains a UNESCO City of Design. It’s also a month to celebrate all we’ve accomplished together through art and inspiration in our city.

During the Month of Design, expect a variety of events every week from panels on diversity in design to a night-time gallery walk in Eastern Market. There is something for everyone on the Month of Design’s schedule so be sure to mark your calendars for events that interest you the most.
