A few weeks ago, Rebuild was a proud sponsor of The Michigan House at the South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) in Austin, TX for the first time. This mission of the Michigan House is to provide a forum for Michigan based companies to reach an international audience. SXSW brings together creative, entrepreneurial and business minds for networking and inspiration.
Our focus for the event was to share the work we have done in the connected car space the last two years on GM’s Marketplace. It was great sharing our story and meeting other business leaders and creatives within the greater Michigan community.
There was also a huge interest in what everyone from the state has been working on since last year’s SXSW. Panels were packed and the space was jammed from open to close nearly the entire weekend.
Outside of the Michigan House a fun opportunity presented itself for Steve DeAngelis our own VP, Strategy. As witnessed in the epic GIF above, he shattered the glass ceiling to serve as a reminder of women’s equality.
It’s an important point that we at Rebuild Group also strongly believe in: we must always ensure that women are getting the same opportunities as men, both in the world and in the workplace.
If you didn’t get a chance to attend SXSW this year, or haven’t seen our coverage elsewhere, be sure to check out a few of our favorite photos of the event below:

The space was beautifully decorated with greenery and natural light, in partnership with Detroit’s own Bloomscape.
Saturday, March 9th was Mobility Day at the Michigan House, a chance for local companies to show off the technology being designed and built here to move the world into the future.
Outside of networking opportunities, panels took place all weekend long at the Michigan House.
The room was packed! There was a lot of interest in Michigan businesses as nearly all panels and scheduled events were standing room only.

As you can see, there was no better place to call home for the weekend. It was great meeting so many creative and inspiring minds at The Michigan House.
With this group, the potential for collaboration is unrivaled and unsurprisingly we have a lot of new relationships to foster; so with that said, we’ll see you next year.
